About Company

Moody’s Corporation (NYSE: MCO) is a global integrated risk-assessment and financial-intelligence firm founded in 1909 by John Moody and headquartered at 7 World Trade Center in New York City. Publicly traded and a member of the S&P 500, Moody’s reported roughly $7.72 billion in revenue in 2025 and employs around 16,000 people across more than 40 countries. The company operates through two major businesses: Moody’s Ratings (formerly Moody’s Investors Service), its long-established credit-ratings franchise, and Moody’s Analytics — the data, software and research division created in 2007 (rebranded simply “Moody’s” for many offerings) that now generates the majority of corporate revenue. Rob Fauber serves as President and CEO of the corporation, and in June 2026 Christina Kosmowski became CEO of the Moody’s Analytics division. Berkshire Hathaway is a long-standing major shareholder.

On the data side, Moody’s operates one of the world’s most comprehensive entity databases. Its flagship Orbis database — built on Bureau van Dijk, which Moody’s acquired in 2017 — provides comparable data on hundreds of millions of private and public companies, with the broader company-reference data ecosystem spanning 600 million-plus entities (cited up to roughly 635 million), over 490 million individuals, and more than 2 billion ownership links. This is enriched with firmographics, financials, corporate hierarchies, securities data, technographics and beneficial-ownership structures, plus credit ratings and research from Moody’s Ratings. For compliance and screening, its Grid database aggregates adverse media, sanctions, watchlists and politically exposed persons (PEPs), and real-time entity verification is provided through kompany. Data is continuously curated from public registries, filings and thousands of monitored sources.

Moody’s delivers these assets through a portfolio of platforms and products including Orbis, Grid, Compliance Catalyst, Sanctions360, PassFort and CreditView, supporting use cases across KYC/AML, credit and lending risk, third-party and supplier (KYS) risk, insurance, and economic, climate and ESG analysis. Data reaches customers via APIs, web platforms, bulk feeds and a “data interoperability” approach designed to plug into third-party and in-house systems and cloud environments — increasingly paired with AI-driven automation for fraud detection, onboarding and risk workflows. The company serves banks, insurers, asset managers, corporates, fintechs and public-sector agencies worldwide, and has grown its analytics capabilities through acquisitions such as Bureau van Dijk, kompany, PassFort, RMS and Cortera. Note: entity counts, revenue and employee figures evolve over time and vary slightly across Moody’s own pages and third-party sources, and division branding is still transitioning — confirm the latest figures directly with Moody’s before publication.
