Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS) is an American financial technology company founded in 1968 and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. Originally rooted in the business that became Systematics, the company grew through decades of expansion and acquisition into one of the world’s largest fintech providers. Today it is led by CEO and President Stephanie Ferris, trades on the NYSE under the ticker FIS, and is a member of the Fortune 500 and the S&P 500 Index. FIS reported roughly $10.1 billion in revenue for 2024 and employs on the order of 44,000 to 55,000 people worldwide, serving more than 20,000 clients globally.
FIS delivers financial technology across what it calls the “money lifecycle” — how money is paid, banked and invested. Its data-oriented offerings include FIS Accounting Data as a Service (formerly Railz), a financial data API that lets institutions, fintechs and developers push and pull information from accounting, banking and e-commerce systems through a single connection. That service aggregates data from major providers such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, FreshBooks, Wave and Zoho Books, and connects to commerce platforms like Shopify and Square, giving customers real-time access to transactions, reports, analytics and insights. Alongside this, FIS operates broad banking, payments, capital-markets and risk platforms built on decades of processing infrastructure.
For delivery and integration, FIS provides open APIs through its FIS Code Connect gateway and marketplace, a developer portal, visualization SDKs and lifetime sandbox testing for developers building embedded finance products. Its Atelio platform offers components to embed financial services, while Worldpay (which FIS acquired in 2019) anchors its merchant and payments capabilities. FIS positions these tools for banks, financial institutions, businesses and developers seeking to move, store and put money to work securely and at scale. Note: specific figures such as current employee headcount and certain compliance certifications vary across sources and should be confirmed directly with FIS before publication.
