PurpleLab is a healthtech company built around real-world data (RWD) and analytics for the healthcare industry, headquartered in Wayne, Pennsylvania (some directories list nearby Furlong, PA). It was founded around 2016 by Mark Brosso, who continues to serve as Founder and CEO. Brosso is a serial RWD entrepreneur — he previously founded Health Market Science (acquired by LexisNexis) and Aileron Solutions (acquired by IMS Health, now IQVIA) — and started PurpleLab to solve the inefficiency and fragmentation of traditional healthcare data analytics. The company has raised roughly $43M across three rounds, including a $40M Series B in September 2022 led by Primus Capital alongside existing investor Edison Partners (with M7holdings an early seed backer), and it reports triple-digit growth over several consecutive years. In September 2025, PurpleLab expanded its capabilities by acquiring KAID Health, an AI-based SaaS company serving providers and ACOs.
At the core of PurpleLab’s offering is HealthNexus®, a no-code, HIPAA-compliant analytics platform, powered by its proprietary CLEAR RWD™ dataset. CLEAR RWD is created by ingesting and standardizing high-volume medical and pharmacy claims into a unified common data model, then enriching it with additional layers such as social determinants of health (SDOH) and one of the largest available mortality datasets. PurpleLab consolidates hundreds of coding systems into more than 220,000 clinically validated concept groups, and maintains accurate patient, provider, payer and location relationships so analyses reflect the real structure of the healthcare system. All records remain fully de-identified and linkable to first- and third-party data through Datavant’s privacy-preserving tokenization, giving teams billions of harmonized, patient-level data points spanning diagnoses, medications, procedures, eligibility, EHR, lab observations and mortality.
HealthNexus supports an end-to-end workflow — Research, Analyze, Segment, Activate, Measure and Optimize — letting non-technical users size markets, characterize disease burden, profile providers (HCPs/HCOs), build custom DTC, HCP and payer audiences, and measure campaign and therapy performance without SQL. Data is accessible through the no-code platform, APIs, direct file delivery, clean-room environments and custom extracts, and audiences can be deployed to programmatic, CTV, social and other omnichannel activation points. PurpleLab serves life sciences and biopharma, advertising and media agencies, financial services and investors, payers, and providers, and has built a healthcare-advertising ecosystem through partnerships with companies including Payerset, Experian, DeepIntent, InsightsRx, Comscore and Dstillery, while participating in self-regulatory bodies such as the NAI and IAB. Note: exact founding year (cited variously as 2015–2017), headquarters specifics and employee counts (roughly 100–205 across sources) differ between directories and should be confirmed directly with PurpleLab before publication.
