G2, now known simply as G2, is a Chicago-based company founded in 2012 by Godard Abel, Tim Handorf, and other entrepreneurs. It operates as a peer-to-peer review platform that enables businesses to discover, buy, and manage software and services through authentic user feedback. Often likened to a “Yelp for business software,” G2 hosts over 500,000 verified user reviews covering approximately 58,000 products across nearly 1,200 categories.
In October 2018, G2 raised a $55 million Series C funding round led by IVP, with participation from Emergence Capital, Accel, and Pritzker Group Venture Capital, bringing its total funding to $100 million at that time. The company planned to use this investment to expand its workforce, aiming for a 500% headcount increase in its Chicago and San Francisco offices, as well as overseas.
